Das Investment der F\u00f6rderbank war Teil einer Series-A-Finanzierungsrunde, in der das Scale-up insgesamt 57 Millionen Euro in Form von Eigenkapital und F\u00f6rdermitteln einsammelte. eleQtron entwickelt und betreibt Quantencomputer auf Basis von Ionenfallen und treibt die industrielle Nutzung von Quantencomputern voran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201eQuantencomputer k\u00f6nnen Aufgaben l\u00f6sen, an denen aktuell selbst leistungsstarke Supercomputer scheitern. Genau darin liegt ihr enormes Zukunftspotenzial\u201c, sagt Gabriela Pantring, Vorsitzende des Vorstands der NRW.BANK. \u201eDas Ziel von eleQtron ist es, dieses Potenzial f\u00fcr reale, kommerzielle Anwendungen zug\u00e4nglich zu machen. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen und seine Technologie im industriellen Ma\u00dfstab zu skalieren, unterst\u00fctzen wir das Scale-up mit unserer Beteiligung.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nrw-bank-eleqtron-investment-erklart-quantencomputer-technologie\">NRW.BANK eleQtron Investment erkl\u00e4rt Quantencomputer Technologie<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Deutlich mehr Rechenleistung durch Qubits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anders als konventionelle Computer arbeiten Quantencomputer nicht mit Bits, sondern mit Qubits. Statt nur die Zust\u00e4nde 0 oder 1 anzunehmen, k\u00f6nnen Qubits \u2013 vereinfacht gesagt \u2013 mehrere Zust\u00e4nde \u00fcberlagernd darstellen. Dadurch lassen sich bestimmte komplexe Berechnungen potenziell um ein Vielfaches schneller l\u00f6sen als mit heutigen Hochleistungsrechnern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allerdings reagieren Qubits \u00e4u\u00dferst empfindlich auf St\u00f6rungen aus ihrer Umgebung. Selbst minimale Vibrationen oder Temperaturver\u00e4nderungen k\u00f6nnen ihren Quantenzustand beeintr\u00e4chtigen. Mit steigender Anzahl an Qubits nehmen daher Fehleranf\u00e4lligkeit und technische Komplexit\u00e4t des Systems \u00fcberproportional zu. Genau hier setzt die Technologie von eleQtron an. Sie basiert auf Ionenfallen. Dabei werden einzelne geladene Atome (Ionen) in elektromagnetischen Feldern gefangen. Die Ionen dienen als Qubits und werden mit Mikrowellen gesteuert. Im Vergleich zur \u00fcblichen Lasersteuerung reduziert dieser Ansatz die Hardware-Komplexit\u00e4t erheblich und erm\u00f6glicht so eine kosteng\u00fcnstigere Skalierbarkeit des Systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nrw-bank-eleqtron-investment-unterstutzt-skalierung\">NRW.BANK eleQtron Investment unterst\u00fctzt Skalierung<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Auf dem Weg zur industriellen Skalierung<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die eleQtron GmbH wurde im Mai 2020 als Spin-off der Universit\u00e4t Siegen gegr\u00fcndet. Heute besch\u00e4ftigt das Unternehmen mehr als 100 Mitarbeitende. Das Kapital aus der aktuellen Finanzierungsrunde flie\u00dft in den Aufbau skalierbarer Produktionskapazit\u00e4ten, den Ausbau eines Cloud-basierten Zugangs zu den Systemen sowie in die Weiterentwicklung der Hardwareplattform und Technologie. Die Finanzierungsrunde markiert damit einen wichtigen Schritt auf dem Weg zur industriellen Skalierung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zu den neuen Investoren der Finanzierungsrunde z\u00e4hlen neben der NRW.BANK die VC-Firma Ankaa Ventures aus Frankreich, der Laser-Ausr\u00fcstungs-Spezialist Precitec sowie die IFB Hamburg. Lead-Investor ist Schwarz Digits, die IT- und Digitalsparte der Schwarz Gruppe. Zu den zentralen Investoren und Geldgebern z\u00e4hlt zudem der EIC Fund des European Innovation Council.
