Never give up, and – Never give up!

electricR calculating the best time for electric vehicles owners to charge their cars

Please introduce yourself and your startup electricR to our readers!
Hi – thank you for your interest in electricR, my name is Eran, it is a Hebrew biblical name meaning “awake”, I live in New Zealand and in my qualification I’m a theoretical physicist. I have invented DOT COM ventures for many years now and electricR is my favourite since it is aimed to fight global warming by calculating the best time for electric vehicles owners to charge their cars.

Electric vehicles are booming and going to have a huge impact on the environment: if electric cars replace petrol engine cars, it means that their carbon footprint will be similar, unless people use alternative energy to charge them. ElectricR is calculating the best times when alternative energy is used by the local electricity grid to generate electricity in the EV area, so the owners could make a wise decision when to charge.

How did you get the idea to electricR?
I did many projects for the power industry in New Zealand, mainly for large electricity generators, and noticed that I could calculate the electricity resources i.e. coal, gas, wind power, solar power etc that potentially could be used in specific conditions.

How difficult was the start and what challenges you had to overcome?
My main challenge was that we didn’t get any financing so had to keep my day job. There are also some technical difficulties since electricity generation is changing by country, location and many other variables which we currently keep non-disclosed. I find it very challenging to find proper co-partners with the right skills, and find it even more challenging to get funded. Investors could be sometimes such a pain, that in the end I decided on the slow track and developed everything by myself.

Who is your target audience?
Our target audience is electric vehicles owners, world wide.

What is the USP of your startup?
We are the first to suggest an alternative EV charging model for electric vehicles. This is a very complicated niche that requires experience of years both in mathematics, physics and we b development.

Can you describe a typical workday of you?
So we are not funded yet, me and everyone else involved have got their day jobs. I don’t have TV at home this is in the last 20 years and I don’t like to waste time on useless things, so all my free time goes to new developments. I usually work at nights and in the weekends, I tend to work close to 18 hours a day. When I work on code I shut everything else down, but then during gap times I go on Social Media and connect to other entrepreneurs to share ideas. I also like to travel, I just finished a 4 months tour around the globe, but always have a laptop and other appliance with me to continue and push electric forward.

Where do you see yourself and your startup electricR in five years?
I wish that in 5 years times, electricR will be in a production level with enough data integrity to be useful in all countries around the planet. I wish that every EV owner would be using it to reduce their carbon footprint, and that our company would be well funded by then with ability to have proper working teams.

What 3 tips would you give other Start-up founders on the way?
My 3 tips: 1. Never give up, 2. Never give up, and – 3. Never give up. And if you really insist on the details – 1. Be decisive and push your ventures without any stop, no matter what people tell you. 2. Try to postpone investments to as late as possible, try to do everything you can not to use foreign money, 3. Try to avoid out sourcing by developing your own skills – no one would do things better than you, no one would do good things for you!
