Meet Max Loessl CEO of Agrilution on the Global Food Summit

Please introduce yourself to our readers

My name is Max Loessl I am the Co-Founder and CEO of Agrilution.

Please tell us about your business.

Agrilution is the only AgTech/FoodTech company that offers a Personal Vertical Farming Ecosystem for conscious consumers in metropolitan areas around the globe who want access to a variety of nutrient rich greens in an era of growing interest in plant-based diets and food-safety

Why did you start a start-up business and what are the biggest challenges?

Because conventional agriculture is one of the biggest threats to the environment and we cannot continue taking the same paths we have taken the past decades.

Can you describe a typical workday?

There is no such thing as a “typical workday” in the startup life as far as I have experienced in the past 6 years. Days can range anywhere from 9AM – 8PM 5 days a week to 9AM – 11PM 7 days a week.

You are a speaker of the event Global Food Summit. What do you talk about at the event?

We will be presenting our Personal Vertical Farming Ecosystem live for people to experience and will present our Vision of how Vertical Farming will play a role in enabling access to healthy, sustainable grown and personalised nutrition.

What kind of changes have occurred in the start-up scene within the last years?

We’re experiencing the development of a startup ecosystem in Munich.  Internationally I believe investors are paying more attention to new business models and companies that don’t just focus on maximising shareholder value, but creating value for all stakeholders along the chain including the environment !

What are the biggest mistakes of startup founders?

That others will steal your ideas if you share them openly.

Which was the last book that you have read?

I read Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari and Measure What Matters by John Doerr in parallel.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Improving the global food system through vertical farming and big data generated insights while making sure we don’t further mess up the environment.

What are your 3 tips for other start-up founders?

Do something that matters, find investors that believe in your long-term vision, be patient and build a team around you with people that are intrinsically motivated, better and smarter than you

Thank you Max Loessl for the Interview
