German defence tech company Ground A has closed a pre-seed funding round of \u20ac9.1 million, the company announced. This round is aimed at moving its GA 1000 counter-drone system from prototype into series production<\/a>. The round was led by Vsquared Ventures. Participation came from a consortium of venture and strategic investors. Ground A, founded in January 2026 and based in Berlin and D\u00fcsseldorf, says the GA 1000 has already progressed from prototype to testing and validation within months of the company’s launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The round also included individual entrepreneurs and investors from Europe’s defence and software industries. These included Florian Seibel, Sven Kruck, J14 Capital, Andreas Nauerz, Marlon Braumann and Arx Robotics managing director Stefan Roebel. The GA 1000 is a compact, laser-based counter-drone system built to detect, classify and track small, agile drones automatically. With the pre-seed round secured, Ground A’s near-term priorities are industrialisation and scaling in parallel. The company is building out modular series production capacity in Germany and progressing the GA 1000 toward market launch.
