The Founders of Dare-U-Go!, 5-in-1 bib for babies and toddlers, in interview about founding and the show Shark Tank

Please introduce yourself and your startup Dareugo to our readers!

We are Dare-U-Go! a 5-in-1 food storage bib made brilliantly for travel and convenience for babies/toddlers. Designed as the “ULTIMATE” bib, Dare-U-Go! folds into a food storage unit that SEALS AIR-TIGHT. It not only catches food to help keep clothes clean, but it is also easy to wipe down and has BUILT-IN DIVIDERS so food doesn’t touch! (a SPORK is included and the bib is MICROWAVE SAFE and DISHWASHER SAFE)

How did you get the idea of Dareugo?

The idea of Dare-U-Go! came to be on an afternoon at the mall, making a pit stop in the food court for Lisa’s (CEO) son Daxel to get something quick and easy on-the-go to eat. With time being tight and needing to accomplish the “to-do” list while at the mall, Lisa make shifted an old bib she had in her bag to use as an extra hand to help hold and feed her son while on-the-go at the mall. Laughing and joking about how this a necessity for parenting, we did a quick google search and were in disbelief there actually wasn’t a product like this on the market.

Why did you decide to start with Dareugo?

We decided to create it because it has never been in existence before. It was something that as a parent, we knew they would really want and it’d be so helpful and kids would LOVE it. This being handy would make kids just adore it because they could still be their busy selves and explore all while staying clean and able to eat their favorite snacks all while parents get an extra hand.

What is the vision behind Dareugo?

We at Dare-U-Go! want to help and support families worldwide, whether that’s with the product we create itself or giving back through our business with initiatives. How difficult was the start and which challenges did you have to overcome? The start of Dare-U-Go! was actually easy. Fun really. It involved a lot of laughs, what if’s, how cool would this be… Then it just grew, as wild as our imaginations. The hardest part we had to overcome, was building a business up from scratch and learning everything that encompasses starting a business. The challenge was learning all the in’s and out’s.

Who is your target group?

You were in the show Shark Tank. Can you tell us something about it?

Shark Tank was an amazing experience, did you know the chances of getting on the show are less likely than getting into Harvard?! It was quite the process to get on that show. The casting process is well over 6 months. once you get invited to come to set and present in front of the sharks, you still aren’t guaranteed to get on the show. The process is very hard. To get a deal on top of that is monumental!

Who was your favorite investor in the show Shark Tank?

Barbara Corcoran of course. I also liked Mark at the time but he gave me a [unfair] hard time. Just my opinion.

What happened after Shark Tank?

The big question! … Well, like everything things take time. While we waiting a year for it to [hopefully] air, with hard work we reached out to other countries. in a years time we were in 14 countries. When our show did air, it just put our product into the houses all over the country! It was very exciting. It still is very exciting.

Can you describe your typical workday?

A typical workday looks a little different now in 2021. Our team is a little more divide with Emily (Co-Founder) in Canada and Lisa and Brannon (Exec. Assistant) in Los Angeles, the team is making it work to the best of their abilities. Though working from different countries and in different time zones, a typical day for us is making sure everything is running smoothly, checking in via email or phone with the team, and always trying to find new ways of thinking and creating so we can share our product with the world.

Where do you see yourself and your startup Dareugo in five years?

In 5 years, Dare-U-Go! WILL be a household name. We are optimistic we will find a dreamer as big as us who will help us be accessible to families worldwide. Hopefully, in 5 years, shipping costs will lower and storks will drop off your DUG at the doorstep in an eco-friendly, reusable cloth.

What 3 tips would you give other founders?

It’s not going to be easy, but it will be worth it.

If something doesn’t feel right, trust that instinct.

Fraud is scary and REAL.

Remember your worth.
